Regional Qualification

Only students of a DEA MEMBER Teacher are eligible to participate in the National Title Competition.

The DEA National Title Competition will be open exclusively to solo’s, male and female, at all age levels of competition: Small Fry, Junior, Pre-teen, Teen and Senior.

Any Member Teacher’s student who enters a solo at a Regional Competition and scores in the Gold or Platinum Range (282 to 300 pts.), a composite score from three (3) Adjudicators (each of whom can award 100 pts.), will automatically become eligible to participate in one of two National Title Finals to be hosted at New York City & Las Vegas.

A soloist may enter as many solo routines as desired at a Regional ($85.00 solo fee per entry).

Should an entrant execute more than one (1) solo at a Regional (Example: Tap solo, Lyrical solo and Ballet solo) ONLY the highest scoring of the solos may be entered into the National Title Competition.

At a Regional, no places will be awarded; only an announcement of the solos which score a Gold or Platinum award will be made. Each solo will be awarded a certificate and given a National Title entry form to attend the city of their choice.
National Qualification

The deadline for National Title Competition is MAY 2, 2011. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Each Soloist who scores in the Platinum/Gold range at a Regional and wishes to compete in one of the 2 National Title Competitions MUST submit an Official Entry Form (given at the Regional of attendance) along with a 5x7 black & white headshot in addition to the National Title fee.

The DEA Member Teacher of each entrant is not required to register for National Workshop in 2011. However, each National Title contestant must be represented by a designated chaperone (18 yrs+) at city of attendance.

Title participants in New York must pay a Title fee of $85.00 plus an Application fee of $125.00.
Title participants in Las Vegas must pay a Title fee of $85.00 plus the Workshop fee. -
Participants (except Small Fry) in each of the National Final cities will participate in Proficiency Classes
in Ballet, Tap, Jazz & Acrobatics. Students will be grouped into two age groups; Junior/Pre-Teen and Teen/Senior to be adjudicated based on technique, stage presence, ability to learn and overall performance. Participants will be awarded from 1 to 5 points. The two (2) highest scores from the four (4) classes will be added to the score attained from the performance of their solo i.e.: 100 points from each of 3 Judges for a final possible total of 310 points. -
Title contenders will also wear the following for Workshop & Audition class:
Ladies: Black Leotard, Tan Tights & Shoes || Men: Black Jazz Pants or Tights, Black Shoes & White T-shirt -
Title contenders (except Small Fry) will make themselves available for (3) two hour rehearsals to learn an Opening Production number to be executed at the opening of National Title Competition in the city of participation. Small Fry will participate in the Competitors Introduction prior to competing; declaring their Name and Style of dance they will be performing.

Selection of the 2010-2011 OVERALL WINNERS for DEA’s Royal Court will be determined by a panel of Judges who will adjudicate by DVD, all National Miss & Mr. Title winners in each age level, from each National city. The Royal Court for
2011-2012 will be announced approximately three weeks after the conclusion of Nationals at Las Vegas. Royal Court Winners and 1st & 2nd Place runner-ups will be notified by mail from National Headquarters. -
Students that win a National Title in the Final adjudication for DEA’s “ROYAL COURT” agree to remain a student of their Member Teacher for 1 year or forfeit all awards and prizes.

A student that wins a National Title may not compete in the same age category in the following competition year.
