TEACHER TRAINING & CERTIFICATION



GUIDELINES


  • Applicants MUST be 18 years of age with 4 years minimum of extensive dance training at the time of registration.

  • The Training Program is open to Members of DEA, Non-Members and Assistant Teachers. Assistants must attain a letter of recommendation on company letterhead from the studio or teacher in which they are employed.

           ¹ Individuals who have passed Level I, with qualifying scores are eligible for Level II.

           ² Individuals who have passed Level II with qualifying scores are eligible for Level III.

           ³ Registrants must have completed Levels I, II and III.See Guideline Requirement #2 of 2011 TT Brochure.

  • Dress Code for all participants is as follows:                                           

             Ladies: Solid color leotard and tights with appropriate dance shoes. A ballet skirt is acceptable.

                           Hair should be back off the face, no jewelry.

                 Men: Solid color T-shirt or Top with jazz pants, tights or comfortable working trousers and appropriate dance shoes.                              

             NO shorts, sweats or baggy tops for Ladies or Men. You must wear a cover up when away from the instruction area-                                                 especially in New York and Las Vegas
  • Examinations are required by both DEA & UNLV for each of the subjects covered.

  • Participants MUST "sign-in" for each teaching segment and attendance roll is checked for each class.

  • Point deductions will be taken from the final exam for missed classes - no exceptions granted.

  • To be certified in the five major subjects the attendee MUST attain a score of 75% or more in each subject.

  • To pass from one level to another, attendee MUST attain a score of 75% or more from all given examinations.

  • A copy of Gail Grant’s "Technical Manual and Dictionary of Classical Ballet" is required. Copies will be available on-site.

  • Level II & III participants should bring their previous textbooks with them for reference. 

  •  No Food, Soda Pop or Gum allowed (water bottles acceptable) in any dance instruction area either in NYC or LV.
