The DEA Ballet
Seminar was conceived by DEA Executive Director, Miss Vickie Sheer. Its
mission is to provide the serious ballet student 10-18 years of age, the
opportunity to attend a workshop devoted to classical ballet and related
subjects, further enhancing their technique and knowledge under the tutelage of
renowned Ballet Masters and Teachers. Such opportunities give these young dancers an overview of the time,
work and schedule required for those planning a career in the Classical Dance
field.
The Ballet Seminar class work is a
typical seven hour day comprised of: two Ballet classes, Pointe, Variations,
Men's class, Character Work, Turn & Jump classes, Modern dance & other
related subjects.

The structure of the Seminar is divided into 3 levels according to technical proficiency; ability to pick-up and retain, as well as using corrections- not according to age or length of study. At the commencement of the Seminar, students will enter a placement class whereby they will be divided into three levels. This program is not intended or designed for those who dance for recreational purposes. Participants should be taking 2 or 3 ballet classes weekly with their local studio.
The faculty is composed of Master teachers in
the field of Ballet and each having a professional dance career: Raymond Lukens, former dancer in
American & European Companies, Ballet Master and Teacher for Hartford (CT),
