PROGRAM

The DEA Ballet Seminar was conceived by DEA Executive Director, Miss Vickie Sheer. Its mission is to provide the serious ballet student 10-18 years of age, the opportunity to attend a workshop devoted to classical ballet and related subjects, further enhancing their technique and knowledge under the tutelage of renowned Ballet Masters and Teachers. Such opportunities give these young dancers an overview of the time, work and schedule required for those planning a career in the Classical Dance field.

The Ballet Seminar class work is a typical seven hour day comprised of: two Ballet classes, Pointe, Variations, Men's class, Character Work, Turn & Jump classes, Modern dance & other related subjects.

The structure of the Seminar is divided into 3 levels according to technical proficiency; ability to pick-up and retain, as well as using corrections- not according to age or length of study.  At the commencement of the Seminar, students will enter a placement class whereby they will be divided into three levels. This program is not intended or designed for those who dance for recreational purposes.
