The "How-What-When-Why" of Teaching In its 69th year, the DEA Teacher Training & Certification Program is a dynamic multi-dimensional program of study enhancing the knowledge and teaching techniques of all dance professionals. Based on the "How-What-When-Why" of teaching, the program delivers instruction on the five major dance subjects at varying levels of achievement. The University of Nevada at Las Vegas sanctions DEA's program and offers college credit applicable toward a teaching degree.

Upon conclusion of Level 3, the candidate is awarded certification in each of th 5 major dance subjects based on examination scores, practical application of the techniques and class attendance. An individual score of 75% in each of the 5 dance subjects is required for certification at each level. To successfully pass the 3 Level Certificate Program, the candidate must complete Levels 1-3.
The faculty of the Teacher Training & Certification program is drawn from recognized Master Teachers; each of whom has had an extensive performing career as well as teaching credits. They include Raymond Lukens (Ballet Master/Teacher for Boston , Cincinnati and ABT Ballet companies. He is currently teaching for The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre and Director of the new Pedagogy program at New York University), Louis Kavouras (Chair, Dance Department UNLV; former soloist and teacher with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company), Charles Kelley (Master Teacher on Broadway - Tap, Jazz, Theatrical Acrobatics for over 45 years, author and former professional dancer), David Scala (Master Teacher/Choreographer for Radio City Music Hall, Broadway dancer), Mark Santoro (Master Teacher/Choreographer and former Broadway performer), Dolly Kelepecz (former Ballet dancer - Los Angeles, Houston, Zurich Ballet Companies, Pilates certification teacher and now teaching at UNLV), Adam Holms (former dancer with FL ballet, Bachelor of Arts in Ballet Pedagogy & Creator of a Tri-Level curriculum for Contemporary Jazz Dance).
